This project tested my ability to format text and imagery using a series of black and white botanical photographs and texts. By utilizing different grid structures, I was able to make subtle variations that give the book a slightly different feel for each design. They were then translated into digital pdf mock-ups to be viewed on iPad.
This first design follows a 3 column grid that is simple and emphasizes large display type for titles and chapter numbers. The images are bold to contrast the amount of white space there is surrounding the text throughout the book.
This layout design is another variation of a 3 column grid that shows my ability to vary the placement of text and images. I specifically made the images large throughout the book to contrast the small paragraphs of text.
This 4 column grid is used to display a great amount of spacing and visual movement. It also allows for more text on the page and more centered imagery.
This last design follows a double column grid that has plenty of white space around the text and images throughout the book.
